Pueblo is an Urban fishery and as such does present the possibility of a car break-in, no matter where you are in Pueblo. In that time I have learned many of the ends and outs of Pueblo ( for the good and the bad) and feel I can share some information which may lead to a clearer understanding of Pueblo and tips for safe fishing where ever you go.ġ. I am a female Fly Fishing Guide who has been guiding, fishing, and living in Pueblo for the last eight years. The 20”-25” is there to be had in many spots. Bull snakes have eaten 99% of the rattlers. I’m not sure what you meant by “so Called Guides” but if you think we haven’t paid our dues you’re dumber than the dude that spouted that nonsense. Fishing for stockers is not my preference but we don’t guide to our goals we guide to yours. Steel City’s record is over 120 12”-20” fish each in a day. If you are satisfied with a 15 fish day good for you. We are forever thankful to all our fans and clients that make living the dream possible. We do it all this for the privilege to guide some great customers. Insured and bonded to the hilt and licensed, permitted and taxed to death by the local, state, and feds. I don’t have a front door for folks to walk in and book trips. If I post reports here they’re truncated because I’m soliciting clients and I should be paying for advertising. We post reports weekly on our site and never exaggerate the size. In the event of an accident emergency services are close by and I have given park rangers the Steel City Anglers map so they can reach you faster. I would even assert that Pueblo is safer. If you should fear anything it’s the beavers (ask my dog). Fly Fisherman magazine just rated Pueblo as the best new tailwater in the country. Pueblo is one of the finest tailwaters in the country. Police are on the lookout for 12 hardened criminals.ĭo me a favor folks and don’t associate us with those other guides. STAY OFF THE RIVER!!! Today a prison transport collided with a cement truck near 11th street. Go Steel City!!! It is the working-man's town and the working-man's fish, no matter what "medal" is awarded to the river!

If you are cool with the locals, they will show you how to get-r-done, like the kid who taught me how to fish the tireline at the south marina for bass. Seriously, I am really enjoying my time down there. Sure there is a little graffitti the closer you get to town, but that just keeps the "purists" up below the dam (ha, ha).

(L.A.), but it is nice to see diversity, and every brown person is not a gang-banger. Living in the Black Forest (CS), I find P-Lo to be a lot less "stuffy." Perhaps it is because I grew up in the S.F.V. There is something that I would like to say about P-Lo in general, and this is it.

Carp cruise through the undercut bank, suckers roam the bottom, the occasional SM bass makes itself known in the light before slipping under a log, and those elusive cats are something that I am just getting into. It is so cool how under all of that concrete and urban city scape, life goes on. Last week, I saw a few cars parked on the other side of the river with some folks playing music and all but no problems. I heard some people walk by and the usual night critters doing their thing (like the skunk that came to visit me). I was there on Friday night, hunkered down in some thick trees, trying to get an awkward cast out from shore. Twice now, I have fished just west of the Zoo area at night. Since I teach at CSU, I have been hitting the lower river a bit more.

cool discussion about what is to fear and what is not. So is this really the case? Should one stay away from these areas or is this just all a bit Hype? I want to explore this river but Pueblo has a kina "hills-have-eyes" eeriness to it and im not sure i like the sounds of loosing my gear, getting my car vandalized or better yet getting mugged and risking bodily harm. Then after reading some more posts on here it seems to have some validity to this. He said if the "crackheads" dont break into your car, the gangsters will rob you on the river. We went into the flyshop and asked the guy at the shop about where to focus and where to access the lower ark? The guy made it sound like your taking your life into your own hands when you fish this section. I never fished the area down near town.i have always focused on the stretch below the dam. We were fishing near volco and and someones car got broken into. So i have fished this area about 6 times now and never really caught on to the dangers of this area untill yesterday.
