Seriously, I am really enjoying my time down there. Sure there is a little graffitti the closer you get to town, but that just keeps the "purists" up below the dam (ha, ha).

Carp cruise through the undercut bank, suckers roam the bottom, the occasional SM bass makes itself known in the light before slipping under a log, and those elusive cats are something that I am just getting into. It is so cool how under all of that concrete and urban city scape, life goes on. Last week, I saw a few cars parked on the other side of the river with some folks playing music and all but no problems. I heard some people walk by and the usual night critters doing their thing (like the skunk that came to visit me). I was there on Friday night, hunkered down in some thick trees, trying to get an awkward cast out from shore. Twice now, I have fished just west of the Zoo area at night. Since I teach at CSU, I have been hitting the lower river a bit more.
cool discussion about what is to fear and what is not. So is this really the case? Should one stay away from these areas or is this just all a bit Hype? I want to explore this river but Pueblo has a kina "hills-have-eyes" eeriness to it and im not sure i like the sounds of loosing my gear, getting my car vandalized or better yet getting mugged and risking bodily harm. Then after reading some more posts on here it seems to have some validity to this. He said if the "crackheads" dont break into your car, the gangsters will rob you on the river. We went into the flyshop and asked the guy at the shop about where to focus and where to access the lower ark? The guy made it sound like your taking your life into your own hands when you fish this section. I never fished the area down near town.i have always focused on the stretch below the dam. We were fishing near volco and and someones car got broken into. So i have fished this area about 6 times now and never really caught on to the dangers of this area untill yesterday.
